The weather, the locations, the beach atmosphere, the Spanish villas…it was a beautiful place to get married!

Esther and Jason have been together for over 3 years. Though originally from San Diego, they currently live in Virginia but wanted to get married in their hometown amongst family.

Ceremony took place on the military base with a Sword Ceremony afterward. Then we headed over to a Spanish-style restaurant venue overlooking the lake for the reception.

Esther did a ton of DIY projects for her wedding, including her aisle runner (wow!), the wedding favors, and even the table number holders that wrapped around wine bottles.

Winner of 2011 LASEA "Best Wedding Produced"

I’m so honored to announce that J.Soiree received two Los Angeles Special Events  Awards (LASEA) from ISES LA last year. It’s an amazing feeling to be a part of great companies like AOO Events, Simply Mumtaz, and Eventworks who also won!

J.Soiree won “Best Wedding Produced”  for a wedding we planned at the Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach in 2010. We also received the “Most Green Event” award for a women’s eco-friendly spa and beauty event that we coordinated at the Luxe Hotel Sunset Blvd. in 2010 to help build awareness for Girls Inc.

Excited!!

A big congrats to florist and friend Sharmila Gokel-Garg from Parties and Petals who won the Firecracker of the Year award!!

The venue was a very gorgeous Pandora on Green restaurant, from the same catering company who owns Cafe Santorini. It’s an amazing space that’s becoming more and more popular! I already have a wedding booked in August at this place. And of course you know how we do! ISES LA members enjoyed tricked-out bartenders, yummy appetizers, and mingling throughout the night.

The new ISES board was also installed during our awards ceremony. We’re looking forward to a very fun and productive year!

Anna and Jason are one of the cutest couples I know. Having lived out in LA for a few years, I know they wanted to bring back a little of that glam to their wedding in their home state of Michigan. From the pink uplights to the photobooth to the hand-made mini British mailbox that her father made, everything was personalized, unique, and absolutely elegant!

Hazel and Keith met while shopping for cherries at their local supermarket, so when it came to deciding how they would make their wedding unique, it was only natural that they commemorate where they fell in love. Escort cards were mini baskets of cherries that guests enjoyed while mingling during cocktail hour. Guests wrote messages on tote bags with the couple’s monogram for future shopping excursions. And since Hazel is an avid hula dancer, there was plenty of live Hawaiian music, Hula dancing, and of course, a solo from the bride to the groom!

Just Engaged!

Just wanted to share that my boyfriend David, and I are engaged! It happened 2 weeks ago when he surprised me in front of both of our families.

1. Royal Wedding inspired.

After Will and Kate tied the knot in April 2011, designers have been designing their interpretation of a “Royal” inspired wedding gown. To get this look, try dresses with fuller skirts/trains and smaller waist. Also try longer sleeves with simple details.

2. Blush Colored Dress.

A new and rising trend for wedding dresses is to add some color and romance. Gwen Stefani definitely took the risk with her hot pink-dipped bridal gown for her wedding that was fun and still classic at the same time.

Many designers are offering their bridal collections in taupe and a blush
pink. To achieve this look, try to stick with a simple fabric such as taffeta or silk. The color alone will have the shock factor and you don’t want crazy designs or bows to make your dress look too busy.

3. Subtle prints.

Another interesting trend in bridal gowns is having slight detail or subtle print to your wedding dress. It’s a unique way for a bride to be traditional yet show off some style within her gown. If you decide to go with this style, pick out bridesmaid dresses that would compliment the design on your gown with color.

4. Illusion /Lace Sleeve.

This type of dress is really fashion-forward and not shy. The design gives an illusion that your arms, back, or neck is covered up for a romantic and classic but sexy bridal look. Since these dresses usually have a lot of detail, limit the amount of jewelry you wear in order to keep the focus on you the bride.

5. Fabric Feathers/Floral design.

If you’re really looking for a dramatic dress, this style is for you. Organza/Tulle feathers and pop-up floral designs really give your dress character and make a statement of its own also. Most of the fabrics used for these dresses are light but may actually be a little heavier than a classic wedding dress. Since this style also is very couture, feel free to add a black sash or bright colored shoes, but don’t over-do your make-up or hair.

Most of all, you want to feel Beautiful and Comfortable in any dress you choose! Bring images when you check out a bridal gown shop and talk to a Consultant about what style you like and what forms could best accentuate your body type. And have fun!
