Great Gatsby! A True 1920′s Event
Published on 03 28 2011 by J.Soiree in Uncategorized
J.Soiree had the pleasure of coordinating a wonderful 1920′s-themed 60th birthday party. The venue was at a private residence in South Pasadena which was built in the late 1920′s, complete with high vaulted ceilings, hardwood floors, and hanging tapestries. Guests were encouraged to wear costumes to fit the theme, and were also offered fedora hats, gloves, pearls, and even feather headbands when they arrived to complete their look.
The living room was transformed into an entertainment room consisting of a large dance floor, a 3-piece “Django Reinhardt” band, and cocktail tables for resting between sets. Professional 1920′s dancers were brought in to dance and instruct guests on various dance moves like the Lindy Hop and the Charleston.
The dining room offered a full bar including 5 signature drinks from the 1920′s including the “SideCar” and “Seelbach Cocktail.” A 4-foot art deco ice sculpture by LA Ice Art featured a “60″ to commemorate the client’s birthday celebration. Contemporary Catering provided a true 1920′s menu with a food station along with passed hors d’ouvres.
Twinkle lights adorned the outdoor patio area, complete with high cocktail tables and heat lamps. And finally, the seating room completed the 1920′s theme with silent movies of Charlie Chaplin, Buster Keaton, and Greta Garbo screening on the wall and tables set up for backgammon and dominoes games (both from the 20′s!).
A very special thanks to photographer Sam Ter Horst for his wonderful photos, Luna Party Rentals, Town and Country, Cake Sensations for their beautiful cake, and Parties and Petals for all the gorgeous floral designs.

O’FLFF’s Lucky Charms Fundraiser
Published on 03 21 2011 by J.Soiree in Uncategorized
This was my second year volunteering at O’ FLFF’s Lucky Charms fundraiser to benefit the Four Legged Friends Foundation. This year’s event was held at Healthy Spot in West Hollywood and offered guests raffle tickets, free food samples from Strictly Vegan (Jamaican jerk and curry dishes that are completely vegan!), vendors offering free pet portraits and food samples for your pets, and a silent auction and raffle.
MADtv star Debra Wilson was our MC for the event who is always a pleasure to work with.
The highlight of the event was the Fashion Show sponsored by Pinups for Pups. Models and dogs dressed for the St. Patrick’s Day occasion modeled for guests, including Starla, the cutest little dog owned by Chad Rodgers from Bravo’s “Million Dollar Listing.” Also there to show off her adorable pups was Miss Cougar 2010 and former contestant on “The Apprentice.”
Guests also signed up for a “Best Costumed Dog” contest with winners receiving a basket of goodies and prizes.
Thanks to all the sponsors and attendees who helped raise almost $1000 for FLFF! Hope to see you at October’s “Count Fluffula” Event!

What’s Wedding Insurance?

Wedding insurance protects a couple’s investment from circumstances beyond their control, and reimburses expenses incurred. For example, what if your limo driver doesn’t show up and you have to book another one the morning of the wedding — for three times the price? Or what if the groom’s custom-made tuxedo is lost in airport baggage, and he has to buy a new one the day before the wedding? What if your reception space goes out of business a month before the wedding, and you lose your deposit and have to book another space? These are the types of big-day financial losses that wedding insurance can help to protect.
So Why Get Wedding Insurance?
Consider these scenarios:
* Janet and Dan spend months planning their winter wedding. But on wedding day, their reception site is made inaccessible by an ice storm. With the right wedding insurance policy, the couple can postpone their wedding and receive every penny they lost (less the deductible) — including money for the invites, cake, catering, attire, and non-refundable deposits for ceremony musicians, floral designer, and other vendors.
* The bride’s father is injured in a car accident just before the wedding and cannot travel. If the couple has to postpone their wedding, with wedding insurance they could be paid back their expenses to enable them to have the wedding when the father recovers.
* Right before the ceremony, Brittany’s gown catches a gust of wind. Unfortunately, the tulle dances right over to the end of Uncle Howard’s cigar and the dress instantly goes up in flames. Fortunately, the right insurance policy covers the replacement of the veil and gown.”
